Day 67. Spoleto → Arrone [24 km]

We began another day of hiking while it was still dark in Spoleto. Even the first leg of the hike was very challenging. The route led uphill to the historic city center, up medieval stairs, and then along a busy road. Along the way, we encountered many surprises: a closed section of the road and a wrong turn—because, as it turns out, GPS isn’t always right. At one point during the hike, we split into two groups. The official length of the route was 24 km, but some of us covered 30 km. As one participant put it: “Why walk a shorter distance when you can walk a longer one?” Along the way, we met some very kind and hospitable people who treated us to aromatic coffee, a glass of cold water, and a delicious cookie.

The day concluded with Holy Mass at the oratory, presided over by Fr. Prefect Paweł Baliński, followed by dinner, during which the rector served Italian cuisine.
