Day 70. Poggio Moiano → Fara in Sabina [18 km]

We started the day around 6:00 a.m. It had rained during the night and early morning, which made the air crisp and the temperature pleasant for hiking. After the first 7 kilometers, we stopped for a short break for coffee and breakfast.

We left the beautiful landscapes of Umbria behind us, and the landscapes of Lazio opened up more and more clearly ahead of us. A challenging climb to the summit awaited us along the way. Although it took a lot of effort, the beautiful views made it all worth it. Today’s stage was shorter than yesterday’s, so we arrived at our destination before noon.

In Fara in Sabina, we were welcomed by the Poor Clares, who live in the local convent. Breathtaking, extraordinary views stretch out all around it. The convent itself delights with its simplicity and beauty, perfectly embodying the Franciscan spirit.

Thanks to the sisters’ hospitality, we were also able to take a break from cooking—they prepared a delicious lunch for us, and in the evening they treated us to local specialties.

Our day ended with the Mass, accompanied by beautiful singing, during which Fr. Wojciech emphasized in his homily the importance of seeing the world through God’s eyes.

Another day is behind us—full of beautiful views, encounters, and gratitude for the people whom God places on our pilgrimage path.
